ASEAN UNITY DRIVE

Organized by the Malaysia Automotive, Robotics and IoT Institute (MARii) with the support of the Ministry of Investment, Trade and Industry (MITI) and PRO-NET, the ASEAN Unity Drive 2025 (AUD 2025) was a monumental cross-border expedition. Designed to champion sustainable mobility, the event aligned perfectly with Malaysia’s leadership as the 2025 ASEAN Chair, emphasizing regional connectivity and the rapid adoption of electric vehicles (EVs).

The historic drive featured an incredible 10,432-kilometer journey across 72 cities in 9 ASEAN nations. The convoy was proudly led by Malaysia’s first national electric vehicle, the Proton e.MAS 7, alongside a fleet of Proton X-Series SUVs. To cover the region comprehensively, the expedition was split into two distinct routes: the North Route (traversing Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia, Thailand, and Malaysia) and the South Route (covering the Philippines, Brunei, Indonesia, Singapore, and Malaysia).

Beyond a highly publicized road trip, AUD 2025 functioned as a real-world performance test for cross-border EV charging infrastructure and regional policy integration. The extraordinary journey concluded with both convoys converging in a grand finale at the Malaysia Autoshow 2025 at MAEPS, reinforcing ASEAN’s shared vision for a greener, more interconnected future in transportation.
