Organized by the Ministry of the Environment, Japan (MOEJ) in partnership with Malaysia’s NRES, the event focused on the shared goal of achieving a decarbonized and resilient society through regional innovation.

Key Highlights:

  • Business Innovation: Over 30 Japanese companies showcased advanced environmental technologies, ranging from carbon capture to waste-to-energy solutions.
  • Thematic Seminars: Expert-led sessions covered Circular Economy strategies, Nature-based Solutions (NbS), and Greenhouse Gas (GHG) transparency (MRV).
  • Regional Recovery: A special plenary session highlighted Fukushima’s transition into a model for carbon neutrality and renewable energy.
  • Strategic Networking: Dedicated business-matching sessions facilitated partnerships between Malaysian stakeholders and Japanese green-tech leaders.

The Bigger Picture

As a core component of IGEM 2025, MJEW contributed to an event that drew over 55,000 visitors. It underscored Malaysia’s role as a green hub in ASEAN and Japan’s commitment to providing the technical expertise needed for a regional “Race Towards Net Zero.”
